We love Kelly! She was my wedding coordinator and now we’re switching roles as vendor/bride for her wedding. Since she’s a planner I challenged her to get creative for her engagement shoot and boy did she deliver. Kelly scoured a handful of locations (in person) and finally landed on a location in SoCal that looks nothing like SoCal but something out of an East Coast setting. We had colored fall leaves and even snow! I was in photographer’s heaven–like a kid in a candy shop; I could have shot all day. Kelly was such a trooper and so patient with every shot and pose I wanted her to do. This is all in the freezing temperatures while wearing short cocktail dresses and open toe heels. Both her and Renrick were awesome and super adventurous–up for anything. The photos came out amazing and we are so excited to share them with you.
Our hour and a half drive from OC brought us here.
They are too cute together. All smiles for each other.
Yes, there were even Christmas trees AND snow on the ground!! Is this really California?!?
Check out sassy Kelly.
A little bit of fall and a bit of winter in these 3 shots.
Love this series of the walk, the look, and the kiss.
Outfit change!
Second stop: Willowbrook Apple Farm.
It was love at first (location) sight. Kelly really outdid herself.
Can I hear you say “awwww”!?!?
This has got to be the cutest SoCal spot for the fall season.
Look how happy Kelly looks! Makes me happy.
The sun came out to play peek and flare. It was perfect timing.
More lovely flare.
This photo just makes me want to smile. I can almost feel my cheeks getting tired from smiling so much!
Red barns…gotta love ‘em. I wanted to have my reception at a red barn.
We were at an apple farm so I had to have her do the Twilight thing. How could I not? There were apples everywhere!!
Well…ok, I may have gone overboard when I had them both do it–couldn’t help myself!
How cuuute is this shot?!?
See the ground? It’s literally raining apples.
An intimate moment.
Renrick doing his best of whispering sweet nothings.
I couldn’t decide on an image I liked more so you get to see all four.
Their smiles are so genuine and cheerful here. Probably laughing at how numb Kelly’s getting.
I swear I did not stage the apple sitting on that old trunk. I walked by and it was magically there. I had to shoot it. Too perfect!
So how cold was it? Pretty darn cold. I don’t think we were expecting snow. I’m not sure how Kelly survived, but she rocked it!
I wore my rain boots which was very helpful with trudging thru the wet ground.
What was even more nifty were my fingerless gloves. See them at work directing Kelly and Renrick? Love ‘em!!
I wear ‘em while editing, while shooting, while using my touchscreen phone–pretty much all the time. Best $6 investment.
Million thanks to Kelly for finding the location and to you both for powering thru the cold with us. Duy and I had too much fun (if there’s such a thing).
